Higher, Higher sang the Choir

August 17, 2016

So it is Wednesday.  The weekend is over and life is back to normal - well almost.  Because forever embedded in my mind, and the hearts and minds of hundreds of others, are the memories from the 2016 Pathfinder Rally and Fair.

The theme this year, Higher Higher, focused on the beautiful promise from 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18.

"For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.  According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.  For the Lord himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And so we will be with the Lord forever.  Therefore, encourage one another with these words."

Our hearts were lifted higher as we focused on the gospel, and on our responsibility and privilege of sharing this gospel with those around us; our minds were lifted higher as we were challenged to let Jesus live His life through us, lifting us higher above the challenges that we will inevitably face; and our eyes were lifted higher as we are encouraged to look to Jesus, and toward the promise that we will 'rise to meet Him in the air' at His soon returning.

My spirit was lifted higher by the passion and joy that the Pathfinders brought and shared as their talents were developed and used for the glory of God and the edification of each other.

God has given us all talents and gifts, as well as a story - all of which can and should be developed and shared, that He may be lifted up.  And moreso, that we may encourage one another with the promise that He is coming soon.  Let us go higher, higher - together!
